CEH offers surrounding veterinary practitioners and horse owners the ability to consult with or refer cases to our veterinarians. We commonly accept referrals for ophthalmologic evaluations, gastroscopy, upper airway endoscopy, intravenous fluid therapy for colic/dehydration, extracorporeal shock wave therapy and internal medicine consultation.
Dr. Mark Wallace is a Board-certified Specialist in large animal internal medicine. In addition to completing undergraduate training and four years of veterinary school, Board-certified Veterinary Specialists are similar to their human medical counterparts in that they have completed an internship and residency in their specialized field (an additional 4 years of advanced training).
In addition to this extensive training, a Board-certified Veterinary Specialist must pass rigorous examinations to achieve Board certification from the ACVIM. Specialists bring a greater understanding in the area of internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, or neurology, and have a greater knowledge of the unusual, the uncommon, or rare.
Referrals and consultations on internal medicine cases are accepted at Carolina Equine Hospital. Referring veterinarians should contact Dr. Wallace by phone or email to discuss case details prior to referral.
