Meet Carolina Equine Hospital’s Newest Team Member, Madison

Carolina Equine Hospital has a growing team of expert equine health professionals dedicated to providing excellent service and care. As the needs of our clients grow, so too must our staff. Our newest team member, Madison works as a veterinary assistant alongside our experienced staff,and we couldn’t be happier to have her!

Getting to Know Madison

In order to get to know our new team member, Ashley sat down with Madison for an interview.

A – Where are you from, and where do you live now?

M – I am originally from High Point but now I live in Greensboro.

A- Where did you attend high school?

M-  I went to Ragsdale High School.

A- What do you like to do in your free time?

M- I like to ride my horse and spend time at the barn! I also like spending time outdoors and with my boyfriend.

A- What is your favorite food?

M- Mexican food!

A – Please tell us an interesting fact about you Madison

M – Well, I have two goats, two cats, a dog, and a horse!

A – Now on to the work- related ones!

When did you develop your interest in horses?

M – I developed a passion for horses as a 4-year old!

A – Do you have any of your own horses?

M – Yes! I have an American warmblood named Bailey who is 16, and we do the jumpers.

A – What made you want to work here with us at CEH?

M – I love getting to help animals and I have a passion for horses!

A- What kind of things does an equine veterinary assistant do?

M- I process coggins tests, fecal tests, and health certificates, I help the doctors with patients when they need an extra set of hands, I run bloodwork and am in charge of sending tests out. I always help out wherever I’m needed!

A – What is the most interesting thing you have seen while you have been here?

M – An enucleation (eye removal)!

A – What is one thing you feel is very important for horse owners to know about caring for horses?

M – It’s super important to know what to feed your horse and why he needs that specific food! It is also very important to take care of your horse after you ride it correctly!

A – What is your favorite part of your job?

M – I love getting to spend time with my coworkers!

A – What are you looking forward to most working here?

M – I’m really excited about learning a lot about horse and animal care and I’m super excited to get to see all the babies in the spring!
