Carolina Equine Hospital is now offering platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatments for some types of lameness conditions!

Platelet rich plasma is another new and exciting therapy for injured tendons and ligaments.  This procedure uses blood from your horse that is processed to concentrate the platelets.  Platelets contain growth factors that help healing, stimulate tissue regeneration and enhance new blood vessel and connective tissue formation.  Once harvested and concentrated, the platelet rich plasma can then be injected into the injured area.  This procedure is non-invasive and can easily be performed on the farm.
